I'm a trained Queer Affirmative & Trauma Informed Psychotherapist. I also engage in regular therapy, supervision and training to up skill myself.
My therapeutic orientation as a relational psychotherapist centers on fostering meaningful connections, drawing from feminism to address power dynamics and systemic theory to understand individuals within their broader social and cultural contexts
In sessions, I focus on recognizing the complex interconnectedness of individuals with their family, community, and societal systems. By integrating systems theory, I aim to explore and address the root causes of mental health challenges within the broader systemic and relational contexts
Studies show that the strongest predictor of improvement in clients is a positive and secure relationship with their therapist, and I put great effort into establishing a strong bond with my clients. My approach is friendly, inquisitive, and inviting. I see my clients as individuals, not just patients, and I value authenticity and humor in the therapeutic process.
Starting therapy can feel like getting behind the wheel for the first time. There’s excitement, maybe some nervousness, and a lot of unknowns.
You might feel unsure about the road ahead, but with time, practice, and the right support, you start to feel more in control of your journey.
Before we go anywhere, we take a moment to understand where you are. We look at your emotional landscape -
what feels familiar, what patterns you’ve been following, and what’s been keeping you stuck.
Some roads feel safe, others feel like dead ends, and some you’ve never even considered exploring. Therapy starts with paying attention to what’s happening inside you and around you.
Just like learning to drive requires muscle memory, therapy helps you develop new ways of responding to life. We practice recognizing your reactions, understanding where they come from, and figuring out what truly feels right for you.
Over time, your emotional reflexes become clearer, and you start to feel less overwhelmed by unexpected turns.
You don’t drive in isolation - there are other people, signals, and unexpected obstacles along the way. Similarly, therapy isn’t just about you; it’s about how you relate to the people around you.
We explore:
- How you communicate and express yourself
- The boundaries you set (or struggle to set)
- How you handle difficult conversations and conflict
- How you build deeper, more fulfilling relationships
Eventually, therapy shifts from being something you rely on heavily to something that supports the life you’re actively creating. You won’t need constant check-ins on every turn - you start to trust your instincts, make decisions that align with who you are, and feel more at ease in your journey.
There will still be detours, traffic, and roadblocks, but you’ll have the skills to handle them without feeling lost.
This therapeutic journey isn’t about reaching a perfect destination. It’s about learning to navigate life in a way that feels right for you - with clarity, confidence, and the ability to handle challenges as they come.
Therapy, like driving, is about:
- Learning at your own pace
- Making mistakes and adjusting without shame
- Becoming more present and attuned to the road ahead
- Realising you don’t have to drive alone
